How To Draw Clutter Objects

The land use selection allows you to draw a polygon representing a new clutter boundary, which can then
be saved to a file, converted to a clutter data file and used with your clutter databases.

Before you begin please ensure there are no graphic objects drawn on the screen. To do this navigate to Edit>Select All Objects to view/delete graphic objects

1. Navigate to Draw>Land Use (Clutter) Region in the menu bar.

2. The dialogue box pictured below will allow you to select the clutter type and height for the clutter you will be drawing.

3. Next, draw a shape around your area of interest. Single clicking to start and double clicking to close the shape.

4. Once complete, right click on one of the lines of your shape and click save to file. Then choose the option to save as a .bna file.

If you only see the option to save as a .mif file then there are other graphic objects on your map that need to be cleared away before you begin.

5. Once your file has been saved. Navigate to Databases> Land Uses (Clutter) in the menu bar.

6. Under Name of BNA file with clutter region data select browse and point to the .bna file you previously created.

7. Next, under Directory/filename for new clutter datafile (use .gcv extension) point to the same directory as the previous step.

8. Set the grid spacing (bin size) to an appropriate number for you project. This number will control the resolution of the data.

9. Click the create land use (clutter) file button. This will convert your .bna to .gcv

10. Lastly, browse and point to your newly created .gcv file in the directory path and ensure it is selected as active.
