Live Coverage Contour
EDX Wireless, Inc has introduced a new feature in SignalPro, the “Live Coverage Contour”. This feature is available to all users with the latest version of the software.
Live Coverage Contour is tailored for real-time coverage contour analysis. This advanced functionality equips users with the tools to meticulously analyze, strategize candidate planning, optimize site placements, and expedite decision-making processes for their projects. Leveraging any propagation model, resolution, spacing, antenna heights, terrain, and clutter. By preemptively evaluating cell coverage footprints, users can efficiently integrate new sectors, ultimately enhancing project agility.
Key highlights of the live coverage feature include:
Compatibility with any propagation model
Enhanced capabilities for importing tower locations and assessing contours around and near poles
Ability to freeze specific locations for precise analysis
Flexibility to deploy multiple contours within projects to evaluate optimal scenarios and drive informed decision-making.
How to use Live Coverage Contour
The Live Coverage Contour can be found in SignalPro under the View menu.
Under the option “Live Coverage Contour”.
When a user clicks this option they are presented with a new menu, that can be used to adjust to the users requirements for coverage analysis
The Propagation Model selection allows the user to choose from the Basic Anderson2D(no clutter) option, one of the propagation model rules that can be configured under the Propagation Model menu found under the Studies Menu or a propagation model that is already calibrated by user
The TX and RX height allow the user to adjust either the height of the Transmitter or the Receiver/Mobile Unit.
The Max Pathloss allows the user to adjust a maximum allowable pathloss to be used
The Frequency option allows the user to set the frequency for coverage analysis
The Checkbox allows users to snap the Live Coverage Contour to valid towers/poles database locations. This is set by pointing to the towers/poles file in the Towers/Poles Databases menu (this is a separate menu outside of the Live Coverage Contour option.)
Once the user has set up the menu as per their requirements, select “Done”
The user can drag the mouse in the map and view the changing live coverage in the area.
Orange shape shows the live contour coverage below, when active the “Live Contour” gui will remain atop in a transparent mode that can be selected at any time
To freeze the contour, click on the map.
This will freeze the contour and user may continue analyzing other areas in the map, creating other contours or spanning the area to view possible other candidate locations and their contours.
Users can select Ctrl+Click to remove any frozen contour.
To add a site to any frozen contour the user can right click in the center of the contour and add site (select template to be added).
Once done the user can navigate back to the Live Contour Options and select “Stop Live Contour” and “Done”.
When the live coverage contour is reopened and restarted the previous contours will reappear in the map
Here is an example image showing two Live contours frozen down on the map and a third contour at the mouse location:
