Preferences
For the various types of data that you use with the program, there is a convenient way to select the default directories on your PC or network that stores each type of data.
Select File>Preferences in order to set up these defaults. You will see a dialog box that names each type of data and provides for a place to enter a path for each. For each type of data listed, simply type in the path to the directory where this data is usually found, or use the Browse button to select from the directory tree of your PC’s hard drive and network connections. Whenever you access any of these data types, the program will start your browsing from the relevant directories referenced here. Select OK and these preferences will be saved with this project.
The Home Database Paths button allows you to set a second set of database paths to Terrain, Clutter, Building, Demographic and Traffic databases (set up under the Databases menu). You can then switch back and forth between the original settings and the new setting by checking the Override checkbox for the appropriate database section.
This can be useful for setting up network locations when you’re in the office, then switch to (override) local databases paths when you leave the office. When home database overrides are used, a warning message will be presented to the user when they try to modify or set database locations in the Databases sub-menus.
