TDD 5G Settings Dialog

Signal Pro will now allow users to configure their own custom TDD setting as per their vendor specifications.

To access the TDD dialog go to the following:

Make sure that the system profile that is selected indeed operates in a TDD manner. Then press the TDD Parameters button to configure.

The configuration allow for up to 2 TDD patterns as specified in the standard. To change, just enter the TDD Slot Configuration cell and type:

  • D to designate all 14 symbols as downlink

  • U to designate all 14 symbols as uplink

  • S to designate that a symbol has downlink, uplink, or is used for a guard period.

The special slot contains 14 symbols (or 12 for extended cyclic prefixes). Each symbol in the special slot can be configured in the following manner:

  • D to designate a symbol as downlink

  • U to designate a symbol as uplink

  • G to designate that a symbol is used for a guard period.

The following table designates the number of slots and symbols per subframe.

The table only requires the user to enter the pattern once if the TDD sequence is repeated over the frame duration. This is rather helpful when the SCS of the system extends beyond 30 kHz. This dialog will show a cell error in red when either conditions occur:

  • The total number of slots per frame is not evenly divisible by the number of slots designated by the user. For example using 30 kHz SCS, where the total slots=20, DDDSUU uses 6 slots and does not divide evenly into 20 (total slots), in will show an error.

  • The total number of symbols in the special slot configuration is not 14 (or 12 for extended cyclic prefixes). For example the Special slot configuration DDDDDDDDDGGUU will error because it consists of only 13 symbols.

Different TDD configurations will directly effect throughput and other type of 5G studies.
