Symbol/Text

Symbol

Creating a symbol requires a location at which to set the symbol, just like the precise circle and rectangle. Select Draw>Symbol, choose your method of setting the coordinates, select the symbol to be displayed from the drop-down list, its color and point size, then click OK. Your symbol will appear on the screen at that location. If it’s not where you’d like, or you decide not to set a coordinate, you can shift & left-click the symbol on the map view and move it where you’d like. Right-clicking on the symbol gives you the option to delete the symbol, set its color, save it to file, or change the displayed symbol, including the color and size.

Text

Select Draw>Text and in the dialog box, type the text you wish to display. You can select the text font by clicking Select Font. You can choose to have the background be transparent or colored and you can change the color by clicking Set Background Color. Click OK to create the text label. Your cursor will change to a pointer with an outline for the label, which you can then place wherever you’d like on the map view.
