SignalPro® Site Marker Color Assignment Procedure

 

Site marker color assignment in EDX® SignalPro® requires the same number of channels in the associated channel plan template (.cpt) as colors to be assigned. To achieve this and assign the colors to the associated site markers, use the following procedure:

Note: This procedure illustrates SignalPro functionality using a generic example. SignalPro provides the means to edit network settings for specific technologies, including channel plan templates, through the Menu Bar at Network Design/Analysis > (technology) > System Details/Service Area.

  1. Load the SignalPro project for which you want to assign specific colors to specific sites.

  2. Select Utilities > Create/Edit Channel Plan Template (.cpt) file to display the Channel Plan Template Editor dialog, similar to the following:

  3. To load the proper .cpt file (if necessary):

    1. Select Open.

    2. In the Select Channel Plan Template File, browse to the proper file.

    3. Choose the file, and select Open to display the .cpt in the Channel Plan Template Editor, similar to the following:

      Notes:

      1. For detailed information on creating Channel Plan Template (.cpt) files, refer to the Utilities Menu section in the EDX® SignalPro® Reference Manual (05-0000R0).

      2. The Channel Plan Template accepts any channel number except 0.

  4. With the proper Channel Plan Template file displayed in the Channel Plan Template Editor dialog, click Save As.

  5. Browse to any user-editable folder to save your .cpt file.

    Note: Unless you have consciously moved the .cpt file to a folder other than its original location, it is NOT in a user-editable folder.

  6. In the File name field, type a unique name to identify your .cpt file, similar to the following:

  7. In the Select Channel Plan Template File dialog, click Save.

  8. In the Channel Plan Template Editor dialog, click OK.

  9. In the Menu Bar, select RF Systems > Generic System Channel Plan to display the Generic System Setup dialog, similar to the following:

  10. Select Use a Channel Plan Template File to activate Assign Colors to Channel Groups and Browse, similar to the following:

  11. Click Browse and browse to the folder where you stored your .cpt file previously, similar to the following:

  12. Select your .cpt file and click Open, to display the populated Generic System Setup dialog, similar to the following:

  13. Click Assign Colors to Channel Groups to display the Assign Channel Group Colors dialog, similar to the following:

  14. To change a color, in the Assign Channel Group Colors dialog, select the color you want to change, similar to the following:

  15. Choose Set Color to display the Color dialog box, similar to the following:

  16. Choose the color you want for the Site Marker and click OK.

  17. Repeat the three previous steps until all of your Site Markers display the colors that you want, similar to the following:

    Note: The digit under Channel Group denotes the channel number associated with that color.

  18. When you have made all the color assignments that you want, click OK.

  19. In the Generic System Setup dialog, click OK.

  20. In the SignalPro Map View, right-click on the site marker for which you want to assign colors to display the context-specific site drop-down menu, similar to the following:

  21. Choose Site Properties to display the Transmitter/Base/Hub/Router Site Details dialog, similar to the following:

  22. With the first Transmitter/Sector selected, click Channels/Traffic to display the Generic System Channels dialog, similar to the following:

  23. Select one of the channels to assign that channel to the site you right-clicked three steps previously. To indicate the assignment, the channel turns red, similar to the following:

  24. In the Generic System Channels dialog, click OK.

    Note: To assign colors to individual sectors, repeat these steps with different sectors selected in the Transmitters/Sectors section of the Transmitter/Base/Hub/Router Site Details dialog, similar to the following:

  25. When you have made color assignments to all appropriate sectors, in the Transmitter/Base/Hub/Router Site Details dialog, click OK.

  26. In the Project Pane, double-click Map Views/Initial View/Map Layers/transmitter/base/hub sites to display the Transmitter/Sector Style dialog, similar to the following:

  27. In the Sector icon fill section, select First channel group color.

  28. Click OK.

  29. When you return to the SignalPro Map View, the updated map displays, similar to the following:
