Ellipse/Precise Circle/Hexagon

Ellipse

Select Draw>Ellipse. Click on the point where you want to start drawing, then as you move the cursor around, the ellipse will expand from that starting point. When the ellipse is the size and shape you want, click again to set the ellipse. Once drawn, if you right-click on the line, you’ll get a contextual menu where you can delete the ellipse, change its color and/or line width, save it to a file, unselect all graphic objects, or if drawn around transmitters or CPE’s, create a new group from the items inside the ellipse. Once the ellipse is set, the Unselect all graphic objects selection is no longer available in the contextual menu. However, if you unset the object, right-clicking on the line will now show the “Unselect all graphics objects” in the contextual menu.

Precise Circle

Select Draw>Precise Circle, and you’ll be presented with this dialog box. Drawing a precise circle requires a center reference point. This can be the location of the red rectangular cross-hair that appears on your map when you left-click, or can be a latitude and longitude. To use the cursor, click on Set center at cursor. Otherwise, the circle will be centered on the coordinates displayed in the top of the dialog box. Set your radius for the circle size, then click OK to create your circle.

Another option is to use the Locate button. This will bring up the Choose a Location dialog box with a list of all your equipment locations. Double click the location on which you want to center the circle and it will transfer the coordinates back into the precise circle dialog box. Once drawn, right-clicking on the line will give you the same contextual menu and options as described above under Ellipse.

Hexagon

Select Draw>Hexagon which brings up the following dialog box:

You can set the radius, change the color and change its orientation. You may want to change the orientation or color to match a particular frequency re-use pattern. Click OK and you’ll see an outline of your hexagon on the screen. If it hasn’t been set yet, as you move your mouse, the location of the hexagon will also move. Left click to set its position. If it’s not where you want, remember you can shift & left-click to move the hexagon once it’s been set.
