What's New in SignalPro

July 2023

A recap of the major feature list from 2023

WiFi Module

  • A new module for WiFi planning and optimization was released earlier this year. WiFi is an important technology globally for homes, hot spots, industrial, and under-served areas. WiFi is a strong player in the private networks and indoor space. To assist our users in WiFi projects, the WiFi Module was introduced.

  • This module covers

    • Support for all 802.11 Standards

    • WiFi Access Points

    • BSSID Identification

    • WiFi Studies

    • BSSID Clash & Interference Studies

    • Neighbor Planning

    • Traffic Modeling

    • Access Point Placement

    • Automatic Frequency Planning

    • Supporting All Propagation Models

    • Indoor Support

    • WiFi Cell Edge

    • Per BSSID Study

This Module can be on a subscription or perpetual license and all data sets are supported.

Per Sector Study Expansion

This feature allows users to view and analyze coverage per sector for any study. This allows the user to have very detailed information of each sector for accurate planning.

The per sector study has been extended to all other study types, this being:

  • Route Studies

  • Multipoint Studies

  • Study Exporter

Users can select the option to “run per sector” for each study. The user also needs to set a sector as the ‘Focus.'

Once run, the option to “Display focus Sector” is available.

BDC

The FCC mandates the filing of all broadband services by each provider. Each must file with detailed information on the availability of fixed and mobile broadband services.

The FCC BDC Requirements document, Broadband Data Collection Data Specifications for Biannual Submission of Subscription, Availability, and Supporting Data, June 17, 2022, revision 1.0.8 from https://us-fcc.app.box.com/v/bdc-availability-spec describes the parameters for filing.

Using any technology that pertains to their broadband network, users can set up SignalPro to cater to their BDC filings.

New studies have been added for BDC; this is found in the basic study group family.

In the BDC Settings, the user will be able to allocate parameters as per BDC requirements.

  • The Cell Edge probability (%)

  • Log Normal Standard deviation (dB) is required for the cell edge margin

  • Use Data Thresholds for uplink and downlink are as required for filings or analysis

  • Cell Loading, “Use Global Cell Loading,” this parameter will add the cell loading factor as required

  • For Minimum Signal use the “Use RSRP Threshold.” For all other technologies, the signal will be taken from Received at Remote metric.

Mobile/Remote GUI Noise Rise specifications

The BDC filing process for the FCC requires that the BDC covered/not covered areas and the signal level plots be provided in one of a few different GIS file formats, including the ESRI .SHP format. The FCC’s expectation is that the signal level SHP files (RSRP, SS-RSRP, or RSSI)  will be divided into discrete signal level contour areas.

EDX has the support to convert the files for FCC.

Site Expansion

  • Various personnel need to query the sites information. To cater to such needs with ease, the site feature has been created. This feature allows pre-determined and user-defined information to be added to the sites and recorded.

  • This feature set also includes a map tool tip presenting on-the-fly information to the user.

    • This full feature set for Site expansion includes information such as:

      • Name

      • Location

      • Picture

      • Address & Number

      • Generator name

      • Model number

      • Batteries

      • Number of batteries

      • Capacity

      • Date of service

      • Date of last service

      • AC name

      • Model number

      • Custom Columns (10 extra)

    •

Sustainability

  • To provide the industry and our customers with the right solution for all their planning needs, we have brought in a new sustainability feature set. This will assist users in planning a network that will reduce carbon footprint and cost while still providing the best quality of service to the end user. This feature will be enhanced in a series of releases. This first release, we introduced the energy consumption of a Base Station where we see 57% of the overall energy consumed in the RAN, providing a method to compare against other BS and technology swapouts.

  •

FWA Traffic Modeling

  • In enhancing our multipoint feature set and to cater to the various use cases such as 5G FWA & LTE FWA, we have added a new traffic modeling feature. This feature presents the CPE demand on the uplink and downlink, which will allow the correct traffic modeling on the RAN. This will enable the user to accurately dimension the sector parameters for the CPE traffic requirements.

EDX-Core

EDX is proud to announce the release of EDX-Core!

This new slim line product will cater to those who are designing specific technologies with specific needs.

This product will be offered as subscription- or perpetual-based licensing. Supports native and other various data types.

Mesh Optimizations

Various speed and accuracy optimizations have been implemented to ensure EDX customers get the most reliable Mesh design and plan.
