Shape file format issues

EDX SignalPro has the ability to utilize Shape files in our software. We have discovered that not all shape files contain the same format. Certain shape files that get produced may contain characters or values that are not defined. When this happens customers may run into issues with the shape file in SignalPro. If this happens, the customer should attempt to get another version of the shape file that contains no undefined characters/values.

What the customer could also try, is to convert the shape file using a GIS conversion tool. For example:

This is a screenshot of a faulty shape file. What is circled is the undefined value, we can tell its undefined by the red underline.

The customer can take this file and bring it into QGIS, which is free open source GIS software. Bring in the data and convert the data to either a different format, or potentially back into shape file format. Converting the faulty shape file into shape file format using QGIS should correct this issue and the file should now function in SignalPro.
