When you run an area study, then run a matching Point to Multipoint study, the area study results can sometimes disagree point by point with the Multipoint study.

It is possible and likely (depending on your study setup) that you can see differences between what the area study shows and what the CPE’s show.

The area study uses a radial line method for creating the underlying work files (where it gets the terrain and clutter information), then it uses the center of each study grid bin to go into the work files and pull the information it needs to plug into the area study, and paint the bin with the study results.

The Multipoint study does a single path directly from the base station to the CPE location.

Because of this difference, the results can, and usually will be slightly different, but again, depending on setup, can be pretty significant.
